Important things to check before you go to the Netherlands

The things you need to prepare before you go to the Netherlands are not at all the same as the things you will do once you arrive. Now, as you prepare for your trip, you need to be very careful with documents, plane tickets, employment contracts, and everything else you need to get off to the easiest possible start at your new job. Here's the list of things to tick off before you go: 

• Get a European health card. Even if DB Work offers you health insurance, it doesn't hurt to have a backup plan.
• Check the validity of your passport and ID. These should be renewed if they have expired. In the Netherlands, you can also travel with your ID card.
• U1 forms to certify periods of insurance or work as an employee in Romania.
• All the certificates, diplomas, attestations, and files of documents you have that may be of help for employment and other employment purposes. It is recommended that these documents be both original and translated by an authorized firm.
• Driving license
• Cover letter, carefully completed CV, both in English
• Open a bank account in Euro

List of important things to check once you arrive in the Netherlands

• You have 5 days to register at the local town hall
• Go to the employer's office immediately to start the formalities
• Obtain all the necessary information about taxes in the Netherlands or how you can recover them if you work there for a long period
• Learn Dutch as quickly as you can. Although the Dutch are great at English, it doesn't hurt to show that you're keen to learn something new.
• Purchase a phone card from the Netherlands, if you do not use a phone subscription opened in the country.
